Our five-year strategic direction, priorities, and implementation focus.

Stories That Inspire Change

See how Undugu Society empowers children, youth, and communities across Kenya.

Building Communities Since 1973

Undugu Society of Kenya was founded by Father Arnold Grol, a Roman Catholic missionary from the Netherlands who served at St. Theresa’s Eastleigh Catholic Church. Witnessing the struggles of children living on the streets, Father Grol was inspired to create an organization that would address their challenges and provide hope. Since its founding, Undugu has grown to support vulnerable children and their families through innovative projects, enhancing their social and economic resilience, and transforming the lives of thousands of street-connected families across Kenya.

Our Strategic

Undugu Society of Kenya aims to enhance its capacity to address homelessness and its effects at a much larger scale than before through four strategies.

Undugu Vision

Vision

A society that upholds justice and dignity of vulnerable children, youth, and families.

Challenges facing street-connected children and youth

The Problem

Homelessness and street connectedness stem from poverty, ineffective policies, and inadequate social systems. Marginalized groups face scarce opportunities and skewed services. These conditions force children to miss schooling, drive youth into drug abuse, and lead to family dysfunction—perpetuating street life.

The Solution

Our goal is to promote the well-being of vulnerable children and youth while strengthening family resilience. Our efforts rescue and rehabilitate street dwellers while preventing at-risk households from falling into street life.

We address missed schooling, youth drug abuse, and family dysfunction through socioeconomic support, capacity building, advocacy, and human rights protection. We implement comprehensive support systems, offer long-term follow-up programs, enhance family and community connections, foster collaboration and partnerships, and advocate for awareness and support.
